A BILL authorizing the sale of the land, together with the
building thereon, known as the former Thomas Jefferson
junior high school by the state building commission.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia.
SALE OF PROPERTY.
ยง1. Land sale; description.
The executive director of the West Virginia state building
commission shall solicit interest in, and enter into a contract
for sale of, for good and valuable consideration as negotiated by
the executive director of the West Virginia state building
commission, the parcel of land, together with the three-story
brick building thereon, located on Morris Street, Charleston,
Kanawha County described as follows:
That certain lot or parcel of land, together with the three- story brick building thereon, known as Thomas Jefferson Junior
High School, as described in Charleston east tax map number
seventeen (17), parcel one hundred fifty-nine (159), situate at
the corner of Quarrier and Morris Streets, in the city of
Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia fronting two hundred
thirty (230) feet, more or less, on the easterly side of Morris
Street and extending back approximately one hundred fifty-six
(156) feet to an alley as described in a deed dated May 2, 1979.
Provided, That the executive director of the West Virginia state
building commission shall not transfer said property for anything
less than the appraised value of the property.
Proceeds from the transfer of the property shall first be
applied for the expenses related to the relocation of the
occupants of the Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, including,
but not limited to, the moving of the employees and remodeling
and renovating office space to be used by the relocated employees
and the remainder shall be deposited in the account of the West
Virginia state building commission.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize the West
Virginia state building commission to sell the property on Morris
Street, Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia, known as the
former Thomas Jefferson Junior High School.
